Dongchuan Red Land is praised as a the “Lost Palette by the God”, and is favoured by backpackers, hikers and photographers. The red land is decorated by different colours of crops, every colour of the palette represents the hard work of sweating farmers. This 5 days tour will take you to enjoy this spectacular scenery as well as the natural wonder –the Stone Forest, and the beautiful Dali City.

Day 1. Arrive in Kunming – Dongchuan Break L, D
Pick you up from Kunming Airport (Early arrival flight is recommended, as it takes almost half a day to Dongchuan) and transfer to Dongchuan (170km 3 hours’ drive) and check in at the hotel. Then head for Luoxiagou to see the fabulous red land and enjoy fantastic sunset (it depends on the weather).

Day 2. Dongchuan – Kunming B, L, D
Get up in early morning and watch sunrise at Damakan Village, then visit the terraced filed at Huashitou Village, the Thousand-year-old Dragon Tree, the Moon Field, Seven-Color Slope and Jinxiu Garden. Drive back to Kunming and check in the hotel

Day 3. Kunming – Dali B, L, D
After breakfast, pick you up from hotel and drive to the Stone Forest (90km, 1 hour‘s drive), where you can discover endless collection of stone towers, spires and oddly shaped monoliths. After the excursion, drive back to Kungming city and visit beautiful Cuihu Lake, find something interesting at Jingxing Flower and Bird Market, wander around Jinma-Biji Archway. After dinner spend some time in city center before talking overnight train to Dali with soft sleepers K9636 (22：47/07：22+1)

Day 4. Dali B, L, D
Pick you up from Dali Railway Station and check in the hotel. After breakfast visit Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, enjoy boating at picturesque Erhai Lake. Walk along Ancient Dali City. Stay overnight at Dali.

Day 5. Depart Dali B
Transfer to airport for your flight back.

Hi John, this is Peter from INTO CHINA TRAVEL. The best photographing time is between mid-May to early June, or late October to November when the land will present lots of different colors like Red, yellow, green and white, which will offer you a good chance to get wonderful pictures.
