Day 1 Beijing – Hohhot
Transfer to Beijing West Railway station to take overnight train K89 22:15 – 07:10+1 to Hohhot.
Day 2 Hohhot -Hilamuren Grassland B.L.D
Pick you up from train station and then drive to Hilamuren Grassland (1.5 – 2 hours). Mongolia Young boys and girls will welcome by toast you, you may enjoy house riding at your own expense (RMB300 per time). Visit the local herdsmen’s house and taste milk tea and diary food. Lunch at grassland restaurant then continue your trip to the Aobaos (big rock mounds that are often festooned with flags for worship). Watch the traditional Mongolian shamanism sacrifice, and Watch the prairie nomads making milk food or Watch Mongolian soldiers returning home in triumph (It depends on the local show schedule). Day 3 Hohhot —Erdos B.L.D
Drive to Kabuki desert, enjoy the beautiful view of the desert, you may enjoy camel riding and sand sliding (optional at your own expense RMB380/person, including 4 wheel motor, camel riding, sand sliding, wedding show, etc.) Night at Erdos hotel.
Day 4 Erdos-Hohhot B.L.D
After breakfast, pay a visit to Genghis Khan’s Mausoleum, you will have a look at the Yellow River Bridge on the way. After lunch drive back to Hohhot and overnight.
Day 5 Hohhot – Datong B.L.D
Today’s visiting places include: Inner Mongolian Museum, Da Zhao temple, Five-pagoda temple and Zhaojun tomb. In the evening take train to Datong with soft sleeper by K218/K219 Hohhot 18:19 – Datong 21:48, pick you up and check in hotel in Datong
Day 6 Datong – Taiyuan B.L.D
After breakfast, you will pay a visit to well-known rock carvings grottoes – Yungang Grottoes,classical masterpieces of Chinese Buddhist arts.Your next stop is the Hanging Temple, which was built on the steep cliff more than 50 meters above the ground and is considered one of most dangerous buildings in the world. Then head to the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda – the oldest fully wooden pagoda in China built in 1056.Then travel to Taiyuan and overnight there.
Day 7 Taiyuan – Pingyao -Beijing B.L
This morning,leave Taiyuan and head to Ancient Pingyao City, which is dubbed the “China’s Wall Street”from the 17th to 19th century. You will find age-old banks, exchange houses and awesome houses in their original condition.After the visit, drive to see the magnificent Qiao Family Mansion,the former residence of commercial tycoon Qiao Zhiyong.Afterwards, transfer to Taiyuan railway station to take fastest bullet train to Beijing G614 18:32 –21:40. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel near the airport
Day 8 Depart Beijing B
Transfer to airport by hotel bus for your flight back.
Travel tips:
1. The best traveling time is summer from June to September when grassland in Inner Mongolia is green and the climate is very comfortable. Other months are not suitable for travelling as the grass turns yellow and the temperature is low.
2. Visitors are advised to take warm clothing to adapt to the big difference of the temperature between day and night on the grassland.
3. Shanxi province features time-honored human landscapes and is known as “A Museum of Chinese Ancient Culture”, so you should specially learn about its history and culture.
