We advise you to leave enough time for you to exit the airport and clear customs, which often requires more than one hour. From December 28, 2017, Passport holders from 53 countries (check the country and region list) with a third country plane ticket can enjoy Beijing’s 144-hour free-visa stay policy. Anyway you still need to confirm with your airline or related authorities to ensure that you are qualified for this free-visa policy.
