Our driver and tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Shanghai around 7:30. Then drive to Suzhou (2 hours). Suzhou, often dubbed the “Venice of the East” , is well-known around the world for its rich culture, classical gardens, elegant canals, small waterways and playful stone bridges. Especially the classical gardens are a brilliant part of Chinese cultural heritage.
In this tour you will marvel at the exquisite Master of Nets Garden (1.2 hours), the smallest garden in Suzhou yet the most impressive garden due to the illusion it creates a much bigger space. It is the masterpiece of Southern China Garden Art.
After that you will have chance to visit the Suzhou Silk Museum, which displays silk relics, silkworms and ancient tools. You will learn about how silk is weaved at the same time.
Then continue your trip to the Pan Gate (30 minutes), a historical landmark in Suzhou. It was built in Yuan Dynasty and is the only existing water and land gate in China.
Head to Shantang Water Town, a famous ancient town of Southern China. There you will see ancient style houses, elegant watery views and the local traditions and customs. You will also find many shops which sell traditional souvenirs such as engravings, stones carvings and embroideries.
Transfer back to your hotel in Shanghai. End of the tour.
