For many people, travelling to Tibet is a marvellous experience, especially after years of dreaming, reading, planning and expectation. However, when you enjoy your tour in Tibet, it is also important to have some basic information about this holly place:
1. Before entering Tibet, please do not eat greasy or hard food, because it’ll increase the burden of your digestive system. Please do not smoke nor drink alcohols, and eat more food contains rich vitamins like vegetables and fruits.
2. Layered clothes is ideal, incl. jacket, wool sweater, long-sleeve shirt, T-shirt, etc. Please do take some winter clothes to avoid getting cold in Tibet (Important!)….also a pair of water-proof sports shoes.
3. Sun blocking cream, sunglasses, wide-brimmed hat, lip stick, wool or silk scarf, gloves, handkerchief, etc.
4.Air in Tibet plateau is much thinner than that in plain area, so please do everything slowly. If the symptom is not serious, you would better not take oxygen, as it would be addicted. If your symptom is very serious, the local travel agency would provide one oxygen pillow or can for free. While if you need more, please purchase by your own from the hotel or shops.
5. Please avoid taking shower upon your arrival in Tibet because the shower would expend your energy and you’ll feel more tired.
6. In the airport or train station, there might be some strangers coming to you & helping with the luggage. Please do not give your bags to them as they would ask for money or even steal your valuables.
7. Tibet is still a remote area and the tourist facilities are not as developed as big cities such as Beijing and Shanghai. Please also be prepared that you can’t expect too much.
8. May to October each year is the peak tourist season in Tibet and in order to protect this world heritage site, the number of tourists to visit Potala Palace everyday is strictly limited by the Potala Management. You may not be able to visit Potala on the certain stated date on your itinerary. But we ensure you that the visit to Potala will be arranged. According to the regulation, business hours at Potala Palace is 8:00am-4:30pm daily, and the maximum visiting time for each visitor is only one hour.
9. Aspirin, Antibiotics, cold and flu tablets, throat lozenges, nasal decongestant and multivitamins, etc. or consult your doctor for some advices. Snack foods like nuts, chocolates, dried fruit, beef jerky, etc.. (for the Tibetan children you may meet on road, you can prepare some pencils, notebooks, ball pens or candy, chocolates for them..)..
