Beijing provid handicapped-accessible buses more than 2,000 buses are accessible to wheelchairs. Some bus stops and traffic lights are equipped with digital voice systems to help the visually impaired.
The city has also put 70 special taxis which can accommodate wheelchairs on the roads. The rates for the special taxis will be the same as in regular taxis, but the special taxi has the added bonus of door-to-door service through a phone booking system. The booking phone is 68373399 or 961001, you will need to book it at least 2 hours in advance
The city’s airport, railway stations and subways are barrier-free. Each of the subway stations on all eight metro lines has at least one entrance and exit that is wheelchair-accessible.
Handicapped ramps, passages, lifts and other necessary facilities are installed in all the major tourist destinations. Elevators are installed in the Forbidden City, the palace of the former emperors; and building miles of bumpy, raised-patterned sidewalks for the blind. In China, an old saying goes, “He who has not been to the Great Wall is not a real man.” Running on undulating mountains, the Badaling section of the Great Wall was not easily accessible to wheelchair users.People on wheelchairs can access that section via a barrier-free ramp of 180 meters and an elevator. The elevator has double doors. Wheelchairs can enter from one door and exit from another.
The Bird’s Nest and all of the other Paralympic venues have been transformed into places without barriers. Special ramps for wheelchairs have been installed at the entrances of all buildings. The passages, restrooms and seats have been remodeled to be accessible to disabled spectators. Barrier-free parking lots and wheelchair rental and repair stations have been set up near the entrances. And conspicuous signs and digital voice systems will be used to give directions. We believe the handicapped system will help disabled people move around freely.”

How could we make a reservation for a wheelchair accessible taxi with a ramp or lift for tow persons for day tours on April 3-5, 2016? We will be on a Crystal cruise and docked in Beijing for these 3 days, and we really would like to explore Beijing.
Thank you.

Hi Roger,
Thanks for your inquiry.
I have checked with the taxi company, they do not have this kind of taxi right now. They once had some for the disables in 2008 Beijing Olympic
Games and used some years, but all have scrapped since 8 years have passed. I suggest you use a sedan instead and I will ask our driver to help you in
and out of the sedan, I will also try to arrange a male guide for you. We have received similar disabled guests before and they traveled this way.
Beijing has no port. All cruise ships will arrive Tianjin Xingang Port. I have checked the schedule of Crystal cruise, it will arrive at 10am Apr 3
and leave 7:00pm. April 5. We will arrange a car pick you up from Xingang Port and transfer to Beijing for tour and then back.
We can do the transfers, book hotels and arrange tours for you. We can customize a detailed tour when get your positive reply.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Peter Wang
